Cole Hauser has become a huge favorite among Yellowstone fans. The actor plays the role of Rip Wheeler on the show, and has gotten a lot of attention for his portrayl of the character. Rip’s backstory is full of heartbreak as he came from a troubled home. As a child his father killed his mother and younger brother before he ultimately killed his dad.
Rip ran away and eventually found himself on the Yellowstone ranch. John Dutton gave him a job and he worked hard to prove his place at the ranch. During his younger years, Rip also fell head over heels for John’s daughter, Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly. As adults, the pair reconnected and got married. However, Cole Hauser reveals that he and his on-screen love are much different in reality.
Cole Hauser opens up about his feelings for Kelly Reilly
“Kelly and I are way different than Rip and Beth. I’ve said a thousand times, she’s this really wonderful human being from England,” Hauser told Awards Daily of Reilly. “But I think she obviously loves the character that she’s playing. She loves the challenge of it. I love the challenge of going from one episode killing people to the next episode sitting on the porch with her having an emotional moment,” the actor continued. “It’s being able to have, as an actor, all those different colors to play.”
Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly may be much different than their on-screen counterparts. However, the actor says that the characters are truly meant to be. “They were meant for each other, 1000%. They are soulmates, for good or bad. They’re going to have their differences, their viewpoints,” he added.
Yellowstone’s Beth and Rip are soulmates, says the actor
Hauser also says he believes the show’s creator and writer Taylor Sheriden has created an amazing story for Beth and Rip. “They’re not perfect. This is just my opinion, what Taylor’s done is made these imperfect people that love each other. I think what the audience sees in them is, you know what, no relationship is perfect,” the actor explained. “A lot of these shows that you watch on television or even in film, it’s like this is horse shit. That’s not real. Taylor has written two characters that have a lot of different colors in them and it depends what day it is to what color you’re going to get.”
Cole Hauser has made it clear where he stands on Beth and Rip’s relationship. However, there’s always a chance that something could go wrong, as Yellowstone has proven to be unpredictable and surprising over the years. Hopefully, this is one couple that will stand the test of time.
