The Dancing With The Stars Season 35 cast has been making waves with fans. They’re so interesting that they’ve even been breaking records left and right as fans are turning out to vote more than ever before. However, the cast members that the producers thought would be fan-favorites are said to be falling behind when it comes to the audience.
Dancing With The Stars Producer Disappointed With Cast Members
Sources tell The Sun that producers believed the fan frontrunners would be actress Jenna Dewan and Savannah Bananas baseball player Jackson Olson. However, neither have yet to wow the viewers.
“Producers are gobsmacked because they usually know exactly who will come out on top, like they did Robert [Irwin] with last season,” the insider dished, adding, “But as of week two, they’ve gotten everything totally wrong.”
Insiders tell the outlet that DWTS producer cast Jackson in hopes that he would be the next Robert Irwin, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in Season 34. However, instead he’s been called “boring.”
“Jackson and Jenna have been a total disappointment versus the expectations producers put on them going into it. They’ve both underdelivered.” So, since Olson and Dewan haven’t “clicked with the audience,” who is quickly becoming the standout of the season?
Who Are The Season 35 Frontrunners?
Although her scores haven’t been the highest, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Tatyana Ali has a special place in fans’ hearts. Harry Shum Jr. is giving viewers Mike Chang Glee flashbacks with his dances. Meanwhile, Paralympian Ezra Frech has everyone in awe. However, reality star and model Maura Higgins may just be the one to beat.
“Maura is the dark horse no one saw coming and Ezra has blown everyone away beyond expectations,” the insider dished. “Producers highly underestimated them both and put most stock into Jackson and Jenna but now they’re thinking Maura or Ezra could become the biggest breakouts of the season.”
Tyler Cameron and Julia Stiles are also big names this season. However, they’ve been in the middle of the pack in the early weeks of the competition.
Underdogs Who Have Won DWTS
In the past, plenty of underdogs have emerged victorious on the reality dancing competition. NBA player Iman Shumpert won over fans and became the first basketball player to win. Radio DJ Bobby Bones might not have been the best dancer, but his hard work, attitude, and fan following earned him the top spot.
War veteran J.R. Martinez told his incredible and heartbreaking story while also becoming a fantastic dancer, and model and deaf activist Nyle DiMarco took home the trophy despite not being able to hear the music. They all won their seasons despite not being favorites going into the competition.
The Drama Doesn’t End There
In week two, Giada De Laurentis was eliminated from competition. Before that there were rumors that her boyfriend, Shane Farley, a TV producer who allegedly had a lot of opinions. Farley was allegedly rubbing people the wrong way during Giada’s DWTS run, per Daily Mail.
Now, that De Laurentis is off the show, it appears that the producers are now focused on the cast and who is resonating with the audience moving forward.
There’s Still A Lot Of Competition Left
It seems that the producers may have it all all wrong when it comes to Dancing With The Stars Season 35. If Jackson Olson and Jenna Dewan don’t start connecting with the fans a bit more, it could be that someone like Maura Higgins may end up winning the entire competition.
There is plenty of competition still ahead, and the DWTS leaderboard is sure to flucuate. With fans showing up to vote in droves, it’s still anybody’s game.
