The Bachelor franchise has taken some bumps and bruises in 2026. Fans have been disappointed as there was no new shows that aired for the duration of the year for the first time ever since The Bachelor premiered in 2002. The drama surrounding Bachelor Nation has certainly been a hot topic of conversation across the internet. In March 2026, ABC announced that it was canceling Season 22 of The Bachelorette just days before the season was supposed to air, featuring Taylor Frankie Paul as the leading lady.
Although the season was already filmed, it never aired due to controversy surrounding Paul. Over the summer, the franchise didn’t air a new season of itss fan-favorite dating series Bachelor in Paradise, leaving fans to raise their eyebrows even higher. In the fall, The Golden Bachelor failed to have a new season, and since then worry has been plaguing fans of the shows.
When Will The Bachelor Season 30 Air?
After more than a year of waiting, fans will finally get a new season of The Bachelor in early 2027. The show has set a premiere date for Sunday, March 21, and will air at 8pm. While the show previously aired on Monday nights, American Idol has taken over that timeslot, pushing Season 30 of The Bachelor to Sunday nights instead.
“The Bachelor comes back next year, it will be done with a lot of thoughtfulness and care. I do think better days are ahead for the franchise,” Rob Mills, the executive vice president of unscripted TV for Disney tells Deadline.
While this is an exciting update for fans of the long running reality dating series, not much else is known about upcoming season at this time.
Who Will Be The Bachelor In 2027?
No lead has been confirmed for Season 30 of The Bachelor thus far. “We have time. It won’t air until midseason next year. We want to get it right, and we’re looking at all sorts of options and having a lot of conversations about that,” Mills told Variety in early 2026.
Usually, the leading man comes from the batch of suitors from the previous season of The Bachelorette. However, because Taylor Frankie Paul’s season was abruptly canceled, fans never got to meet the group of men vying for her attention. Perhaps, one of them will be chosen to lead Season 30.
However, ABC could also look back at the rest of the single Bachelor Nation alums to find someone that would catch the viewers’ attention and make for a memorable season after such a long hiatus for the franchise. They could also try their luck with someone who hasn’t ever been associated with the franchise, like they attempted to do with Paul.
Rumors Suggest Dr. Mike Varshavski Was Offered The Role
In October 2026, Page Six reported that internet star Dr. Mike Varshavski was approached by producers of The Bachelor about appearing in the upcoming season. The 36-year-old was named The Sexiest Doctor Alive in 2015 and has a huge following on YouTube and Instagram, where he shares health advice.
Dr. Mike has previously been romantically linked to 2015 Miss Universe Pai Wurtzbach and influencer Lina Belfiore. It’s unclear if he’s currently single, and there is no confirmation on the rumors that he’ll be the next Bachelor.
It’s been a long year without any Bachelor franchise shows to keep fans entertained. However, viewers are hoping that the wait will be worth it when Season 30 premieres in March 2027.
